Smooth out any uneven ground with new soil. Then level the surface and rake it finely. Let the soil settle for about 1 week or simply tread lightly. Mixing and sowing For optimal quality, the flower seeds are packed in a separate inner bag. Before sowing in a sufficiently large container, mix the lawn seeds and flower seeds very well together. Spread the seed mixture evenly over the prepared area by hand, roll it in or tap it with a shovel. Application rate: 10 g/m2. Do not overdose, otherwise the flower seeds will not have enough space to develop
Flower seeds are light germinators
Do not cover the seeds with soil after sprinkling and do not rake them in
Water thoroughly after spreading. What needs to be considered when sowing? Period: Sowing is possible between April and September and a permanent soil temperature of at least 10°C. Attention: Heat and dry periods make germination and development more difficult
We recommend sowing in spring, as the flower meadow will then bloom in the same year. If sown from August, the flower meadow develops more slowly and does not bloom until the following year. Watering: Irrigation is crucial for success
In the first 4-6 weeks after sowing, keep the seeds and young seedlings moist throughout. An established flower meadow has a fairly low water requirement and only needs to be watered during prolonged droughts. Mowing: In the first year, only a single pruning in autumn is necessary. In the following year, we recommend pruning twice in spring and autumn. Cutting height not less than 10-15 cm. Break off the mowed material after cutting. Already 2 weeks after sowing, the first seedlings become visible. After about 4 weeks, the area is covered by young small plants and grasses. Depending on the weather, the first flowers become visible from about 6 weeks after sowing. The species-rich mixture of flowers ensures a varied flowering sequence until autumn. What types of grasses and flowers does SUBSTRAL® Die Blumenwiese contain? The flower meadow mixture contains about 30 different types of flowers and grasses. Over time, the flower meadow develops and changes and adapts more and more to its natural environment (location, soil conditions, etc.).
