Safety Warnings:
Safety and care instructions for quilts vary depending on the filling, so you should always follow the care label. In general, the following applies: Shake up and air quilts daily, do not wash them too often. Avoid knocking, vacuuming or drying down or natural hair fillings in the blazing sun. Wash them in a large enough drum, ideally individually, with a mild detergent without fabric softener and tumble dry. Shake Up Daily Care: Shake up your quilt daily to loosen the filling and aid moisture release. Ventilate: Ventilate your ceiling regularly, preferably in a shady, dry area. Avoid direct sunlight and high humidity. No tapping or vacuuming: For down or natural hair fillings, you should avoid tapping with a bed beater or suction, as this can damage the filling. Wash Check care label: Always follow the individual care instructions on the label of your quilt. Pay attention to filling material: Washability depends heavily on the filling material. Use a washing machine: Quilts with fillings such as microfibre, cotton or special allergy-free blankets are often machine washable. Size of the drum: Make sure that the drum is large enough so that the wash water can be evenly distributed. Detergent: Use a mild detergent without fabric softener to avoid sticking to the filling. Additives: For down and natural hair fillings, two to three tennis balls can be added to the drum to prevent the filling from clumping. Drying tumble dryers: Quilts should definitely be tumble dried after washing, as air drying takes too long and could cause mould growth. Low level: Use a low power or temperature level so as not to damage the material. Repeat: Shake the blanket during the drying process and repeat the process if necessary to dry and fluff the filling completely. Professional cleaning Special materials: Very thick quilts or quilts filled with special materials may require professional cleaning by a specialist shop. General tips Damage: If a quilt already has visible damage, you should stop using it. Allergy sufferers: For allergy sufferers, quilts with mite-proof fabric and a washable filling are recommended.
