A piano hinge has two equal leaves joined by a pin along its full length; it opens to 270 degrees, and the edges are polished and bevelled for a neat finish. Fix with glue, which is not supplied: the flush and grooved faces give the adhesive a contact surface, so no drilling or screwing is needed. Acrylic and polycarbonate are similar plastics, used interchangeably: acrylic gives good strength and UV resistance, polycarbonate higher impact and heat resistance. For display cabinets, shelving, aquarium lids, acrylic boxes, jewellery boxes and display stands.
