When the ignition is turned on, it will display backwards (6 to 1), which means the memory is clear. -Raise the rear wheel off the ground with a stand and start the engine in neutral. (If you don't have a stand, you can set up the device while driving. Find a long, straight road with light traffic.) -The screen displays L, indicating that learning is started. -The screen displays L, select first gear, release the clutch and keep the speed higher than idle speed. -Display will flash "1". Continue to maintain first gear, accelerate. When the device is learning the run, the display will flash faster. -When display shows "2", select two-position and continue accelerating. -When the display shows "3", select third gear and continue to accelerate. -Repeat this process until all runs have been thought of (5 or 6). The unit is programmed and should indicate the gears correctly. Now when the ignition is turned on it will flash forward (1 to 6) to indicate it is fully functional. For idle: If some gears are not indicated correctly, please reset your device and set it again. If you change the transmission (install a new front or rear sprocket) or install a speedometer (or other speedometer calibrator), you will probably need to reset and re-set it. Cut off the power to the device 6 times in a row while it displays and shows 3,4 or 5. You can turn the display on/off by turning the ignition key on/off. In the next power up, it will display counting backwards (6 to 1). The memory is now clear and you can complete the setup procedure.
